2011 Yamaha AR 240 HO
From our 2011 Test issue

Introduced last year as a replacement for Yamaha’s top-selling 230 series, the AR 240 High Output is a versatile, sporty bowrider that puts the “fun” in functional.
The high freeboard and beam-forward design makes the 240 feel nice and roomy – great when the boat is full to its 10-person capacity. The cockpit features a large U-shaped lounge and a co-pilot seat that converts into a lounge for spotting or reclining. At the bow, the seating area is longer and wider than a traditional bowrider. Filler cushions allow for a wide variety of seating options, including an exciting forward rumbleseat that’s sure to be a hit with the kiddies… or kids at heart.
And when those filler cushions are not in use, tuck them away in the enclosed head in the port-side console to keep the boat free of clutter. More storage is available in the massive floor locker as well as the helm console. The latter’s door also locks across the walk-through to function as a great wind block.
The sporty, stylish helm features a full array of gauges, drive-by-wire technology, stereo with MP3 hook-up and the exclusive no-wake mode. For increased comfort and visibility, the captain’s chair is bolstered.
The standard Bimini and wakeboard tower reinforce the fun theme consistent throughout the AR240. But nothing shouts fun more than the innovative two-tier lounge area at the transom. There’s a lounge with seat cushions, table mounts and stereo controls. And the swim platform is not only larger, but also closer to the water than ever before. So when all the fun the AR240 promises is in high-gear, there’s plenty of room for everyone to take part.
According to performance data from Yamaha, when equipped with twin high-output Yamahas the AR240 popped out of the hole to 30 mph in just over four seconds, registering a top speed of 50.7 mph at 7500 rpm. More than enough speed for watersports fun and a little extra pep for when you’re anxious to get home after a tiring day out on the water.
Yamaha has done a great job marrying fun with functionality in its AR240 High Output, providing more space where customers want it most at a great value.
