Once complete, still stop by a dealer for a diagnostic check

Modern electronic fuel-injected (EFI) marine engines are extremely high tech so many boaters shy away from performing routine maintenance tasks themselves. However, some of the routine tasks, like a tune-up, are actually easier since you do not have to worry about setting engine timing and ignition advance. Today those functions and hundreds more are handled by computer.

To get the job done, you will need a few basic hand tools, including wrenches and a socket set, the correct size spark plug socket, a gap measuring gauge, two torx screwdrivers, and a torque wrench. Once you’ve purchased spark plugs, OEM ignition wires, a cap and a rotor you are ready to go.
