It’s no secret that fuel economy is a major issue for anything with a motor in it – and probably never more so than now. With cars, there are tricks to getting the most out of your tank of gas. For instance, something simple like having the proper tire pressure can be a big help. But what about on a boat?

For argument’s sake, we could compare your tire pressure to your trim gauge. The more you trim, the more boat comes out of the water so you have less drag, therefore you burn less fuel. 

But how do you know you’re getting the most out of your trim every time? Wouldn’t it be easy if there was a little screen on your dash telling you so? Well, there is now! Mercury’s ECO-Screen tells you when you’re not running at optimum performance, how to get there and, in the end, can increase your fuel economy by 10 to 20 per cent. Here’s how…
