A Canadian made, eco-friendly inflatable boat cleaner
By Steven Bull
I love my cruiser but I also love my little 11-foot inflatable tender. It gets a ton of use and we leave it in the water all season, so by the fall it’s pretty dirty. This winter I asked a few boating friends how they keep their dinghies clean and one suggestion stood out. The Inflatable Boat Care Kit from Canadian owned Aurora Marine is eco-friendly and close to home so I figured I’d give it a shot.
It worked as well as promised. After wiping off the dust with a damp cloth, I simply put some of the Speed Clean on the Marine Power Mitt and scrubbed away. Using a clean damp rag I wiped away the dirt to reveal a clean and shiny white tube.
The interior’s dirty, textured anti-skid sections were no match for the kit either. With a stiff brush, that too was scrubbed to a brilliant white, as was the hull.
Once you’re done beaming with pride at your clean and shiny tender, apply the Poly Guard, a UV protector, with a clean damp sponge. Aurora claims it will keep your inflatable looking great all year.
The final step is to apply Repelin to the hull, this is the foul release coating. It goes on in two coats, which dry into a haze and are wiped to a shiny clean finish and should be applied about a day apart.
The instructions on the containers are easy to follow and the results are, as you can see, all the proof my friend needed to go and get some of his own.
