Boating Ontario is introducing the MarineWorx Development Fund, designed to take on the challenges of training dealership sales professionals, providing certifications for marina managers, evolving parts writers and service advisors and training qualified technicians.
The fund will support all workforce development aspects of the boating business. Boating Ontario will allocate funds each year to back the segments of the business that need it.
One such area is housing and transportation support for students in Georgian College’s marine training programs. MarineWorx is offering a minimum of five $2,000 transportation and/or accommodation bursaries for students taking the eight-month MTME marine technicians program beginning in September.
Any Boating Ontario member can refer a student by emailing Duane McKay (email@example.com) with the students’ name and contact info before August 1st, 2018.
As these bursaries are designed to assist with transportation and accommodation expenses, the students do have to live more than 100km from the Midland campus.
Corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available for industry partners to support the program. The MarineWorx Development Fund is here to help the Ontario boating community’s workforce development needs wherever the needs are highest.
