August 1, 2018 — Earlier this summer Boating Ontario announced the undertaking of a new initiative called the MarineWorx Development Fund. MarineWorx aims to tackle all workforce development aspects of our businesses. Funds will be allocated each year to provide support to the segments of marine businesses that are identified as areas in need of backing.
For 2018, thanks to the support of many within the industry, Boating Ontario announced they will be providing a minimum of five $2,000 transportation and/or accommodation bursaries for individuals taking the 8-month, MTME marine technicians program at Georgian College beginning in September.
Making it happen is simple – any Boating Ontario member can refer a student, even if they are not working for the business yet. As these bursaries are designed to assist with transportation and accommodation expenses, the students do have to live more than 100km from the Midland campus.
To refer a student, contact Duane McKay at 1-888-547-6662 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The deadline for referral is September 1st, 2018. Make the connection with a Boating Ontario member today and begin your career in boating tomorrow!
