DMS Holland has developed a universal operating system for yachts that can help owners easily upgrade outdated stabilization systems.
As an all-round stabilization specialist, DMS Holland is regularly asked to service stabilizers. They came up with the idea for the universal operating system after they noticed it was becoming more and more difficult for yacht owners to get parts for their systems.
By adding a DMS Universal, a somewhat outdated fin-roll damping system can easily be upgraded.

Often the hardware components of these older stabilization systems, such as the fins or the mechanical/hydraulic parts, are still in good condition and it is the operating system itself that is dated and causes malfunction.

Effective and well working stabilizers on board yachts is extremely important because they reduce the roll movement of a ship, which can improve onboard comfort, reduce sea sickness and improve safety. If a ship has little or no roll motion, staying on course is less of a challenge — which in turn has a positive effect on fuel consumption.
The DMS Universal is available with soft zero speed functionality. This feature, when used with the DMS Universal to upgrade a fin-stabilization system without zero speed functionality, results in a stabilization system that reduces rolling considerably — even when the boat is stationary.
